- Substantial increase in exhibitor numbers at CeMAT ASIA 2006- Keynote themes: materials handling, logistics, transportation and warehousingKeeping things on the move: from 10 to 13 October the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC) will be playing host to firms in the fast-growing materials handling and logistics industry.
CeMAT ASIA has established itself as the foremost trade show for this sector in the Asian region, bringing the successful CeMAT format - originally developed in Hannover - to the booming Chinese market. The prestige of the CeMAT brand can be measured by the record-breaking number of exhibitors this year: 320 firms will be presenting their innovations and ideas on some 20,000 m² of display area. This represents an increase of approximately 18 per cent on last year's exhibitor numbers. The keynote themes at this year's show are materials handling, logistics, transportation and warehousing - all highlighted by the organizers as the most promising areas for dynamic growth in China and the rest of Asia.
A case in point is intralogistics, where China has already moved up into the top ten group of supplier countries worldwide. Between 2004 and 2005, for example, Chinese exports of intralogistics products and solutions grew in value from 1.8 bn euros (after conversion) to 2.5 bn euros. This puts China in sixth place in the world trade league table, behind Germany, Japan, the USA, Italy and France. Fork-lift trucks are a key component in the growth of the intralogistics industry in China and Asia. Last year the volume of the Asian market exceeded that of the North American market for the first time. And this trend could well continue in view of the vast scale of the demand from Asian industry. At present, buyers are looking for basic, ruggedly built fork-lift trucks that are tough enough to do the job, but in future there will doubtless be a growing market for trucks of more sophisticated design and higher specification - of the kind that now sells well in the American and European markets. So one way or another, there is clearly a big future for fork-lift trucks in Asia - which is why they constitute a major exhibit category at
CeMAT ASIA 2006. Alongside global market leaders such as Toyota, Linde, Jungheinrich, Mitsubishi, Kone, Komatsu, OM, Hyundai and Still, the leading Chinese fork-lift manufacturers such as Anhui Heli, Hangzhou, Shangli and Tailift will also be exhibiting at the show. As will the established suppliers of accessories for fork-lift trucks, including Cascade, Kaup, Auramo Bolzoni, GS, Hoppecke and Solideal. In short, the catalogue for
CeMAT ASIA 2006 should read like a Who's Who of the fork-lift truck industry, which has every reason to feel optimistic about the commercial future.
The exhibitors are in similarly optimistic mood as they look forward to
CeMAT ASIA 2006: "
CeMAT Asia is the perfect platform for us to bring our wireless remote control technology and products to the attention of the booming Chinese market, with its huge appetite for technological innovation", explains Joachim Haack, Export Manager (Asia) at Cattron-Theimeg Europe GmbH & Co. KG.
Quite a few companies from Germany, Korea and Spain will be staging their presentations as part of a joint national display.
CeMAT ASIA is organized by Deutsche Messe AG in association with the China Federation of Logistics & Purchasing (CFLP) and the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society (CMES). The exhibition itself is complemented by an extensive supporting program, which includes such events as the conference "Auto Logistics and SCM World China 2006" and the "Symposium on special-purpose vehicles in food logistics in China - CeMAT ASIA 2006".
With five other major industrial trade shows taking place at the SNIEC in parallel with
CeMAT ASIA, there is sure to be a lot of crossover traffic between the various events.
PTC ASIA showcases power transmission and control systems,
Factory Automation ASIA caters for the fast-growing regional market in factory automation technology, while right next door
INTERKAMA ASIA is now in its second year as Asia's premier trade show for process automation.
ENERGY ASIA covers all aspects of energy generation and distribution, and
METAL WORKING CHINA is the central exhibition platform for the metalworking industries. These events are expected to attract a total of 2300 exhibitors and 80,000 visitors, who will be uniquely placed, in Shanghai, to get a complete overview of the key industrial sectors driving the dynamic Asian economy.
