Bulgarian forklift manufacturer Dimex plans to quadruple forklift production capacity from 2,500 units a year to 10,000 units a year over the next five years.
Dimex executive director Dimitar Dimitrov said at the autumn International Plovdiv Fair that the Plovdiv-headquartered company invested LEV1.0 million (USD 654,935) in production upgrades annually,
Bulgarian News Digest reported.
Dimitrov said Bulgarian forklift demand had increased greatly in the past two years.
Dimex produced about 300 new forklifts and 100 recycled forklifts a year and had a LEV12 million (USD7,859,215) annual turnover.
The report said Bulgarian forklift manufacturers competed with Chinese, South Korean and Indonesian companies.
Dimex produces 1.0 to 5.0 ton capacity internal combustion forklifts, 1.0 to 3.0 ton electric forklifts and hand pallet trucks.
Editorial correction:Dimex executive director Dimitar Dimitrov said he was incorrectly quoted in the Bulgarian News Digest article. Dimitrov said Bulgarian forklift production, not Dimex's, would quadruple in the next five years. Dimex's production capacity is about 500 units a year.
