Bromma has received orders for 70 spreaders from Turkey during the first 10 months of 2014.
Spreader maker Bromma Conquip AB says it is experiencing success in Turkey, which is one of Europe's fastest-growing container-handling markets.

After receiving 73 spreader orders from Turkey in 2013, Bromma reports that orders for 70 spreaders were received during the first 10 months of 2014.

"In addition to the product itself, strong local presence and support are the most important factors to our success," says Vikram Raman, head of commercial management at Bromma. "Container handling is increasing rapidly in Turkey. The global terminal operators such as APMT, DPW and PSA are strengthening their positions and service offerings. We know their expectations and we know how to make sure we meet them."

The largest order for 2014 was from the new DPM terminal in Yarimca, and consists of eight STS45 and 20 YSX45E all-electric yard spreaders. The YSX45E spreaders include Bromma's load-sensing technology for container weighing and accident prevention.

Raman says DPM placed two orders in May and September worth more than USD3 million.

In February, eight YSX45E spreaders were ordered by Evyaport, while in August, Marport ordered six YSX45W spreaders. Then in October, APMT in Izmir ordered four STS45 and 12 YSX45E spreaders.

"Local presence is an important factor for success. Bromma has both service and sales representation in Turkey through our business partner, Yalco, supported by resources from the European and Swedish part of the Bromma organisation," Raman says.

Sweden-based Bromma claims to be the world leader in crane spreaders. In its 50-plus years of operations, Bromma has delivered crane spreaders to 500 terminals in 90 nations on six continents, and Bromma spreaders are in service today at 97 of the world's largest 100 container ports.
