Grant helps ministry acquire forklift
Williamsburg, KY, United StatesCedaridge Ministries in Williamsburg has acquired a 5,000-pound (2,250-kg) forklift to unload food, clothing and other donations from semi-tractor trailers for the needy in Whitley County. "We were able to get the forklift purchase finalised," says ministry president Keith Decker. The 2004 Caterpillar replaces a previous forklift and eliminates the need for equipment rental at various times.
A USD54,348 federal grant and matching ministry funds covered the forklift purchase and replacing temporary roofing on the non-profit's headquarters. An April 2008 tornado tore off the old roof and damaged the ceiling. The US Department of Agriculture awarded the community facility grant under the agency's rural development program. Republican US Rep Harold Rogers announced the grant on 12 August, and Decker says the funds were received in September.
