MedPort places large straddle carrier order

Tangier, Morocco

APM Terminals has ordered 20 Kalmar hybrid straddle carriers to be deployed at its MedPort Tangier across Q2 and Q3 of 2025.

APM Terminals MedPort Tangier is a Moroccan transshipment terminal found in the Tanger Med 2 port complex, serving major shopping routes between Europe, Africa, the Americas and the Far East.

The order for the 20 straddle carriers will take the fleet of Kalmar straddle carriers at Tanger Med 2 to 85.

Arto Keskinen, president, Horizontal Transportation with Helsinki-headquartered Kalmar, says the newly ordered straddle carriers will be “configured, tested and pre-integrated” for a smooth adoption process.

Keld Pedersen, managing director of West Med Hub Terminals, APM Terminals explains the first straddle carriers for Tanger Med 2 were ordered from Kalmar in 2017.

Santa has endorsed Carolina Handling's Christmas book

North Carolina-headquartered Carolina Handling has produced what is quickly becoming its annual Christmas pop-up book which it says has received endorsement from the big man himself.

The Carolina Handling Helps Save Christmas book features the company’s end-to-end warehouse solutions for Santa’s workshop, following the journey of implementing an integrated distribution warehouse.

The pop-up images, illustrated by Carolina Handling’s Jason Craft, include designs of flow tacking, a very narrow aisle wire guidance order picker, a spiral vertical conveyor and vertical lift modules.

It is the fourth year the company has produced and published Santa’s guide.

"We've had fun the past three years branding Carolina Handling as a leading material handling integrator with our Solutions for Santa children's books," director of marketing Donna Waldrep says.

"Pop-up books have been used for many years to help readers understand complex or abstract concepts, so we decided to make this year's book an interactive experience."
