JCB supports NSPCC
Rocester, United Kingdom
George Bamford, Aaron Turner and Adam Holland limber up for the JCB Sportive cycling event
Up to 1,000 cyclists are set to climb into the saddle this summer to put some pedal power into JCB’s NSPCC (The National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children) Platinum Jubilee Appeal.
The cycling event on Sunday, May 8th will cover either 70 mi. or 70 km – a mile or kilometre for each year HM The Queen has reigned. All money raised from the event will go to JCB’s NSPCC Appeal which aims to raise at least GBP70,000 (USD90,000) for the charity’s work in Staffordshire.
The initiative is the brainchild of JCB senior electrical design engineer Aaron Turner who recently founded the JCB Cycling Club and has been cycling for more than a decade. The event - called the JCB Sportive - will start and finish at JCB’s World HQ in Rocester and will take in a picturesque route across Staffordshire and Derbyshire and is open to all ages and abilities.
“This year our focus is on raising as much money as possible for the JCB NSPCC Platinum Jubilee Appeal as well as having fun and keeping fit for a great cause. Offering two distances of either 70 miles or 70 kilometres means we can cater for a wide range of abilities. Our hope in the future is to stage this event every year and make it a firm fixture in the calendar,” he says.

AntwerpXL seeks under 40s
Antwerp, Belgium
AntwerpXL is looking for its next group of rising stars under the age of 40 from across the breakbulk and heavy lift industry.
Those working within the industry are encouraged to self-nominate if they are under 40, or nominate any colleagues that they believe have provided a significant contribution to the sector in recent years.
Rikki Bhachu, head of marketing at AntwerpXL, says: “We recognise that the future success of the breakbulk industry relies upon its next generation of talent. This is where the industry’s disruptive ideas and innovations will come from as it tackles the challenges and opportunities we all face.”
The final 40 under 40 will be selected by a panel of industry experts who are looking for those who have made the biggest difference to their organisation, or the wider breakbulk community.
The 40 will be celebrated at AntwerpXL, running from 4-6 October 2022, with a special drinks reception set to be held in their honour.
Entries close on 29 April, with more information available here.
