Clark named manufacturer of the year
Lexington, KY, United StatesClark Material Handling Company has received the 2014 Mid-Size Manufacturer of the Year Award from the Kentucky Association of Manufacturers (KAM).
The award was announced at the 14th annual Manufacturer & Employee of the Year Awards luncheon held at the Seelbach Hilton in Louisville, Kentucky.
"Having a positive manufacturing presence in Kentucky is something Clark is proud of. To win this award and be acknowledged amongst our peers is an honour," says Clark chief operations officer Chuck Moratz.
Award winners were selected based on innovative and entrepreneurial leadership with regard to products, production method, or services; recognised leadership in making a key contribution to the quality of life in the Commonwealth and the community; and active involvement in organisations that advance industry and manufacturing.
Established in 1911, the KAM is Kentucky's advocate for manufacturers.
Komatsu chosen by CDP
Tokyo, JapanKomatsu Ltd was chosen as a leading company of the CDP Japan 500 Climate Performance Leadership Index (CPLI) and Climate Disclosure Leadership Index (CDLI) for its efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and mitigate climate change risks. This is the second consecutive year Komatsu has received the recognition.
Komatsu received Performance A, the highest score of CPLI, and a high score of 99 points for CDLI. Komatsu was chosen among 500 leading Japanese companies as one of the best companies with excellent climate change mitigation strategies and reduction of gas emissions as well as information disclosure. Twenty-four companies were selected as CPLI and 28 for CDLI. Fifteen companies were selected as both CPLI and CDLI.
CDP, an international non-profit organisation, encourages companies worldwide to disclose information concerning their impact on the environment and natural resources and implement mitigation measures.
Jervis B Webb hosts scrimmage

FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) LEGO League introduces young people, between the ages of nine and 14, to the fun and excitement of science and technology.
"We are happy to host an event that inspires young people to pursue their dreams of designing and creating while learning to work through challenges with their peers in a team atmosphere," says Rob Schmit, president of Jervis B Webb. "We will also show the students what our company engineers and manufactures, including a detailed overview of our SmartCart automatic guided carts. We want to show the connection that what they are doing now is preparing them to do amazing things for the future."
