Marshalls has ordered Kaup 2T412UVP fork clamps for its forklift fleet at its West Lane site. |
B&B Attachments Ltd of Cramlington, Northumberland has received an attachment order for the full forklift fleet of Marshalls' West Lane manufacturing site.
Marshalls, a supplier of stone and concrete landscaping products, ordered the same attachment for handling palletised and palletless goods over 10 years ago. The value of the new contract replacing the attachments for the West Lane site's 25 Linde forklifts is confidential.
B&B sales director Neal Fowler first met with the team at Marshalls West Lane over 12 years ago, where he had to assess their needs and find the best forklift attachment for them.
Fowler says Marshalls sends a range of different orders to customers, some which are set up on pallets, and some that aren't. "They wanted to be able to make sure that the orders were processed efficiently, so after some consideration of the products, I suggested the Kaup 2T412UVP Fork Clamp with slip-on arms."
The Kaup 2T412UVP Fork Clamp was designed primarily for the construction industry. It can grip block and brick stacks, and move heavy loads without damaging the goods. The block arms then slip off, to reveal the product's alternative use as standard forks, for handling palletised products.
Mick Cragg, yard manager at Marshalls West Lane, says his team can handle 30 to 40 different varieties of orders, and needs to get them processed quickly to be as accommodating as they can for their customers.
"By using the [attachment], one forklift can do all the work - we don't need separate trucks for palletless and palletised handling. This is a big time saver, and raises the levels of customer satisfaction as they get their goods quickly," Cragg says.
Marshalls has supplied some of the most prestigious landmarks in the UK with hard landscaping solutions since the 1890s. It has about 15 sites in the UK that manufacture and distribute its products.
