An operator sensing system that acts on a forklift's transmission has won a safety award for Doosan Infracore in the UK Fork Lift Truck Association's (FLTA) annual awards.

The FLTA said the system was standard on all Doosan Infracore's 2006 models.

Linde Material Handling's new axle design on its latest electric counterbalance range, which Linde said "virtually eliminated" maintenance, hence reducing the environmental impact of replacement parts, won the environment award.

Hubtex won the ergonomics award for its twin-masted KZK20 long load picking platform that allows two operators to conduct lifting together at waist height.

Crown's TSP 6000 turret order picker won the innovation award after impressing voters with its performance in very narrow aisles.

The FLTA said there was a 30 per cent increase in votes over previous years and the awards' four product categories were hotly contested.

The awards were presented in Birmingham last month at a James Bond-themed awards night.
