Dematic automation at Bolloré's Blue Hub |
Bolloré Logistics has partnered with Dematic to improve speed, productivity and accuracy with automation at its largest APAC logistics facility, Blue Hub.
The Bolloré Logistics Blue Hub operations are the biggest in the Asia Pacific, with the Singapore facility now the largest and most advanced of its 14 existing sites - making it a key regional centre for the group.
With a focus on innovating operations with automation, Bolloré worked in partnership with Dematic to implement the Dematic Goods-to-Person (GTP) and Multishuttle order fulfilment system in the new facility. To further drive innovation, Bolloré introduced robotic piece-picking into operations, enabling the company to install goods-to-robot cells to operate 24/7, without the need for manual picking.
The Blue Hub automation project builds on the previous success of Bolloré working with Dematic to implement its GTP and Multishuttle order fulfilment solution at its Green Hub facility.
"With the success of Green Hub, our plan for the new Blue Hub facility was aimed at supporting further growth of the business and to help us expand the number of clients we could service, particularly in the growing e-commerce sector," says Frederic Marcerou, managing director, Bolloré Logistics Singapore.
Marcerou says in addition to supplying the fulfilment system, Dematic also provided in-depth training sessions for staff to understand how to use the system, and ongoing support to ensure any challenges were quickly resolved.
The GTP system will streamline operations through increased productivity, improved ergonomics, faster order fulfilment and reduced manual labour. The high-density Dematic Multishuttle System feeding the GTP stations will also allow Bolloré to improve space efficiency within the facility and maximise inventory storage, a critical feature in Singapore where land is limited.
