Hurricane Idalia made landfall in Florida this weekAfter galvanising disaster recovery efforts in Hawaii after the devastating wildfires there, the American Logistics Aid Network (ALAN) is now preparing to assist those affected by Hurricane Idalia.
The hurricane made landfall in Florida this week, causing flooding and power outages.
ALAN executive director Kathy Fulton asked members of the materials handling sector who wanted to assist to check ALAN’s disaster micro-site.
“Although there are no open requests for Hurricane Idalia support at the moment, although there are many more from other disasters, this situation could quickly change as Hurricane Idalia’s story unfolds,” Fulton says.
“In fact, most of our requests usually come several days or weeks after hurricanes have hit. So stay tuned and stay ready because as requests for transportation, warehousing, volunteers and materials handling equipment come in, we will be posting them promptly. And we will need your help.”
Fulton says ALAN also welcomed “pre-offers” of help on its website.
