Work has begun at the Combilift site at Tullyhirm on a new EUR40 million (USD44.3 million) development.
The development includes a new industrial unit, a three-storey office block, hard-standing areas and a carpark.
According to a report in the
Irish Examiner, up to 400 jobs will be created during the construction phase and over the first three to five years of production at the site.
The development is expected to be completed within 18 months.
Half of the jobs will be in construction and most of the others will be for skilled technicians and design engineers.
Combilift was established in 1998 and is now a global manufacturer of forklifts and a major economic contributor to the Monaghan area.
At last week's official start of works, a company spokesman noted that the investment reflects Combilift's "commitment to manufacturing in Monaghan as well as to the regional economy".
When the project was announced in February, co-founder Martin McVicar said: "With this greenfield investment and sufficient land available on the new site for future expansion, Combilift is committed to continuing its organic growth in Monaghan for many years to come."
