The 2017 California Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Summit, Fuel Cell Electric Bus Workshop, and Microgrid Tour will take place September 25-27 in Sacramento, CA, at the EPA Headquarters. The Summit, now in its fifth year, has become a signature conference for the hydrogen community. Industry leaders and influencers in the policy community come together to advance the interests of hydrogen energy in California and beyond, by exchanging information and addressing opportunities and challenges in key environmental, business and market areas.
Conference Sessions Include:- Panel - Overview of State Regulation and Legislation
- Feature: Renewable Hydrogen Roadmap Publication
- Keynote Roundtable - Hydrogen in the Energy Sector
- Industry Perspective on Hydrogen's Role in Decarbonization of the Electrical and Gas Grid
- Special: Hydrogen and Fuel Cells in the Transit Sector
- Panel - What's Happening with Vehicles?
- Panel - Meeting the Needs of Hydrogen Infrastructure
- Lightening Round - What's happening outside of California?
- Special: Financing Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Projects
- Discussion Roundtable - Environmental Benefits of Hydrogen - Meeting California's
Climate Goals- Special: What Opportunities do Ports offer to Hydrogen and Fuel Cells?
- Panel - Novel Approaches for Hydrogen Applications in Commercial Environments
- Panel - Goods Movement and Freight: Hydrogen Fuel Cell Medium and Heavy Duty Trucks
Fuel Cell Electric Bus Workshop:This one-of-a-kind half-day workshop will feature both education and discussion segments, to facilitate a comprehensive look at fuel cell electric buses in the world today. AC Transit will display one of their fleet of FCEBs, for a chance to experience this technology firsthand.
Agenda Topics:- Current deployment status, system performance, fueling options
- Transit operators share experiences, incl. cost, and fueling challenges
- Adoption Barriers - Awareness: Improving Transit Agency Awareness about FCEBs
- Adoption Barriers - Value Proposition: Reducing FCEB TCO compared to BEB and CNG
- Adoption Barriers - Hydrogen infrastructure: Partners and Project Readiness
- Developing an Action Plan for FCEBs
Microgrid Tour:The "Stone Edge Farm MicroGrid" tour will visit the farm's mile-long power line that connects a network of electrical services and integrates various forms of distributed energy generation (solar, microturbine, hydrogen fuel cells) and storage (batteries and hydrogen) with real time monitoring and control.
These three events make the 2017 Summit the most dynamic yet, building on previous Summits with more than 200 attendees and 90 organizations participating, from agencies, universities, and businesses in California, around the country and internationally.

W: www.californiahydrogen.orgAbout California Hydrogen Business CouncilThe vision of the California Hydrogen Business Council is to reinforce California's position as the most advanced clean energy state in the nation, expanding the sustainable use of its precious natural and renewable resources and providing clean air to its citizens, by adopting hydrogen and fuel cell technologies in transportation, power and goods movement markets. In 2017, the CHBC will work together with industry, government and non-profits to continue our groundbreaking work in hydrogen energy storage and power to gas; renewable hydrogen pathways; public transit; and clean ports, heavy duty transportation and goods movement. New in 2017 is an expanded government affairs activity with one or more legislative and regulatory professionals to proactively guide and help execute our new advocacy efforts in Sacramento. This new support will be in addition to the consultants hired in 2016. This activity will include tracking bills, articulating CHBC positions, managing the process, engaging with other trades and NGOs, and leading consideration of CHBC-led proactive positions in partnership with our allies.
