The 2017 California Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Summit and a unique Fuel Cell Electric Bus Workshop will take place September 25 - 27, 2017 at the California Environmental Protection Agency's headquarters in Sacramento, CA.

In its fifth year, and hosted by the California Hydrogen Business Council (CHBC), the California Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Summit has become the signature conference for the hydrogen community. Industry leaders and influencers in the policy community come together to advance the interests of hydrogen energy in California and beyond, by exchanging information and addressing opportunities and challenges in key environmental, business and market areas.

As a rich networking event, the Summit covers the breadth of hydrogen and fuel cell markets and technologies. Two conference days of presentations and panels go deep into new and current attention-receiving developments and emerging markets. A third day offers a Microgrid Tour and the Fuel Cell Bus Workshop. CHBC Member meetings and a Board meeting will serve to drive industry initiatives. This unique range of activities is what continues to grow the scope of the Summit, drawing hundreds of attendees annually.

This Summit is being held at a pivotal time for hydrogen and fuel cells. Fuel cell electric vehicles and buses can be seen in increasing numbers on California roads, and recent announcements on medium and heavy-duty trucks are creating great anticipation. Markets like forklift trucks and backup power for telecommunications continue to grow. Stationary power and energy storage projects are operating and under development. There is unprecedented attention and activity to the use of these technologies to help clean California ports, and yet there are challenges to achieving the desired benefits.

California's political leadership is pushing hard to expand the role of renewables and hydrogen can play a vital role. Meanwhile, federal leadership on energy and environmental issues is absent and creates new challenges. Challenges remain in building the necessary hydrogen infrastructure, financing projects, building sustainable supply chains for the manufacture and servicing of equipment, overcoming regulatory and permitting barriers for energy storage and hydrogen fueling, and educating policy makers, staff and the public.

These topics and more will be covered during the Summit, and we encourage you to attend, connect with business and government leaders from around the country, and share the vision of how this industry can address state environmental, energy and business goals and revolutionize our state's portfolio of energy solutions.

Last year's Summit was the largest to date, with more than 200 attendees and 90 organizations participating, from agencies, universities, and businesses in California, around the country and internationally.

About California Hydrogen Business Council
The vision of the California Hydrogen Business Council is to reinforce California's position as the most advanced clean energy state in the nation, expanding the sustainable use of its precious natural and renewable resources and providing clean air to its citizens, by adopting hydrogen and fuel cell technologies in transportation, power and goods movement markets. In 2017, the CHBC will work together with industry, government and non-profits to continue our groundbreaking work in hydrogen energy storage and power to gas; renewable hydrogen pathways; public transit; and clean ports, heavy duty transportation and goods movement. New in 2017 is an expanded government affairs activity with one or more legislative and regulatory professionals to proactively guide and help execute our new advocacy efforts in Sacramento. This new support will be in addition to the consultants hired in 2016. This activity will include tracking bills, articulating CHBC positions, managing the process, engaging with other trades and NGOs, and leading consideration of CHBC-led proactive positions in partnership with our allies.
