Research indicates that close to 150 distribution and supply chain projects were planned in October.

Industrial capital project intelligence specialist SalesLeads has released its latest research showing 147 new projects in the Distribution and Supply Chain sector were planned in North America in October.

While slightly down on the 160-odd projects tracked in September, the latest tally includes six new distribution and supply chain facility construction projects with an estimated value of USD100 million or more.

The largest project is owned by Walmart, which is planning to invest USD450 million in the construction of a 720,000 sqft. (67,000 sqm) warehouse and distribution centre in Lyman, South Carolina, slated for completion in 2024.

Industrial warehouses make up the bulk of the projects now on the books (129 new projects) while 42 new distribution/fulfilment centres are also planned.

The bulk of projects are new constructions (76), while 39 projects are expansions of current facilities.

Texas and Florida have the most projects (10 each), followed by Georgia and Indiana (nine) and California with eight.

SalesLeads follows a variety of industries and each month monitors the largest industrial capital projects.
