
The number of new warehouse and distribution centre projects in the United States fell for the second consecutive month in August.
The latest report from SalesLeads details 172 new projects in the Distribution and Supply Chain sector - down from 184 in July.
The new projects include 26 distribution/fulfillment centres and 155 new industrial warehouse projects, with California dominating the geographic spread with 16 projects. Florida has 13 on the cards, while Indiana and Texas both have 12.
During the month of August, the research team identified seven new distribution and supply chain facility construction projects with an estimated value of USD100 million or more.
The largest project is owned by Amazon, which is investing USD550 million in the construction of a distribution centre in Buffalo, New York.
Other notable projects are a USD200 million expansion by a meat processing company in Amarillo which is undertaking renovations and equipment upgrades, with construction due to begin next year for completion in 2024.
An Indiana motorsport company is also planning to invest USD200 million in the construction of a warehouse, office, and maintenance facility in Fishers.
