amen. supply chains are more than cost cuz of multiple factors.
sheer logistics is one thing, but satisfying deliverables are another. at every tier, there is that element of adding human value. which is why we got concepts like the utility, and diminishing rate of returns which play roles as important as opportunity cost.

Depending on your particular business, your supply chain planning may focus on:

Manufacturing
Logistics
Supplier relationships and so on..

Supply chain is much more than saving costs, ultimately, it's up to you to prioritize which supply chain metrics to use, and what results are you trying to get.

Many companies use supply chain metrics that is easy to calculate but don't help drive improvements. And some companies use a variety of complex metrics that may not be telling them anything useful.

When you're trying to decide which metrics to focus on, just Keep It Simple :)

Hello,

Simply put, supply chain is about so much more than just saving costs because there are so many more resources to be saved than just money. In the supply chain money can certainly go to waste, but so can time, worker energy and even supplies. For instance, by implementing lean manufacturing practices into the supply chain process, a business could cut on extra time and energy and deliver products on time, eliminating overproduction. Here's an interesting article on lean logistics: creativesafetysupply.com/articles/lean-logistics/
