Discussion:
weight and transporting a clark c500 s80

I have recently purchased a used clark c500 s80 8000lbs capacity forklift and would like to know its weight I am guessing 13k or so. The forklift is not running and I must now move it to a different location a few miles down the road. I have a way of getting it on a truck but no way of getting it off. I have checked with a couple of the local tow truck drivers but they say it is to heavy for their rollbacks! The only other idea was to rent a large forklift and maybe just pick it up and drive it over to the new location which is only a mile or so. Sorry for the long winded ? Any help would be great. TIA Nick

Accordling to Clark's 1988 specification sheet on this model
you can expect it to weight appox 12275-LBS unless it has
a triple upright. With a 170 or so triple I would suggest you add another 500-LBS or so. These weights can be
expected to vary by a much as 5%. The steer axle alone with carry almost 8000-LBS empty. So, takes a good truck bed to handle this kind of load. Hope this helps.
