Discussion:
Walkie trucks Jungheinrich or Crown

I am currently looking for 4,500 lb electric pallet jack. I am getting quotes from Jungheinrich and Crown. I have had both in for a demo and I am leaning toward the Jungheinrich because their price seems more attractive and the truck seems durable enough, but I admit the Crown seems to be constructed with more steel than the Jungheinrich. I would consider my application medium duty. I am not that familiar w/ the Junghenrich, can anyone tell me if I am looking in the right direction?

I would have to agree with chris, the Crown jacks are just structuraly better. The Multitons have alot of hard to find parts and the Jungheinrich brand is currently being downsized due to the economy. I think the 60PE Crown model was probably the best rider pallet jack ever made.

I have been using Jungheinrich since the Muliton days in the early 80s and havent had any problems, my old pallet stackers are beat up but they work fine. I have even had them repainted a few times, seems like that is the most I have had to do with them.

I have to say that Crown is also not bad, but I dont have any personal experience with them.

I read that Jungheinrich will have be serviced by the cat dealers starting next year, which is good because our local cat dealer is great.

Good luck with your decision.

Crown has a much better dealer network in IL..... Jungheinrich is nothing special, and still not always easy to get parts when you need... The extra steel on the crown and the more durable frame/torsion bar will make the unit last a lot longer.... Ive been around some jungheinrichs and have not seen that good of luck after year 1.......... you get what you pay for

Remember you pay for what you get. Obviously if a unit is constructed of more metal it will cost more but live longer, meaning it will take more abuse from the operator. Secondly, look at dealer support (parts, service warranty, rental back up) in your area.

I don't work for Crown but they have been around a long time and a leader in walkie truck desing for many years (as well as other electric products)
