Discussion:
Used Heister H50XT vs Used Komatsu FG20T-16

Hello,
I have been searching used forklift for awhile.
And I found 2 forklift on market.

Both forklift are Pneumatic tire, 3 stages, side shift
1. Hyster H50XT - 2018 years 5300 hours from original owner
It looks like that it has been maintained good. I just heard that the lift still have 15 months warranty. Im not sure if warranty can be transferred. He said he purchased it from directly from Heister.
He is asking $16,000
2. Komatsu FG20T-16 - 2016 years 2800 hours from a reseller. They offer 3 months warranty
Asking $14,000

Can you let me know which forklift is better?
Among those 2 forklift, Is there a forklift which is known for faulty or problematic
forklift?

Also, please let me know if there is something that I must check before paying $$$.

Thank you.

My preference would be the Hyster. Number 1 is that it has a 5000# base capacity and the Komatsu is 4000#. Even at a base capacity of 5000# if the Hyster is equipped with the triple mast and a side shifter, the net capacity could drop to 3,700#.
Komatsu seems to be winding down in the US. According to their website they only have factory owned branches in major cities. They seem to rely on sales to national rental houses.
I think that the resale value would be much higher on the Hyster and parts availability should be better.

I would choose the Komatsu. Its cheaper. It has almost half the operational hours. its newer. Both brands have good reputations. With a 3 month warranty you'll know if you have major issues by then. The most important issue is which vendor will provide reliable preventive maintenance service and be able to provide parts when your machine is down.
