turns out its the forward modulating valve. I did a preasure test for forward and reverse. forward preasure was spec 105 + at idle but when shifted into neutral, still had 50 psi. took the valve apart and found a small spring broken. thanks

you should naturally run the normal checks of changing the filter and 'last chance screen', also take pressure readings, and you could disconnect the wires to the solenoid actuated modulator (selector) valves, as part of the check, to make sure it is nothing external, but my bet is you going to want to trade this truck in, I think it has a bad clutch pack in the forward direction.

Fact of the week
Funerals in Spain typically occur within 24 to 48 hours of death, whereas in other European countries they wait one or more weeks. This rapid timeframe is a cultural norm grown from the past need to manage the warm climate without modern embalming.
