Traction Problem

Hi guys, I am a rookie on this field but every day i will try to know lil more. We have CHP02 on the shop that have some error codes on traction section 011 the codes are 512, 530 the handbook let me know that have a short on the traction circuit, but i don't have good knowledge in this system and really i don't from where start a good diagnose to resolve the issue. In my visual inspection i found the traction motor very dirty external and internal, i touch the commuter and filling something fluid base on oil, i not sure if its gear oil, hyd oil. Any suggestion please
