Turns out bad ECU. Thanks everyone for the good advice.
in particular, check that the 2 black wires [that looks like a ground, and is attached to the exhaust manifold studs with what looks like an eye lug, this is actually a thermal resistor] for the ecu's temp sensor has not had any thing tied into it, I have seen times when people thought that it was a ground lead and tied some added device into the wires, one of these wires is connected to the black and white wire going back (coming out of) the ECU, that is common to both the temp sender for the ECU (not the dash gauge, it has it's own temp sender) and the accel. pedal position sensor.
so this truck (from the serial number) is the s15-g system, your best bet is to bite the bullet and call the Cat or Mitsu dealer, and tell them you will need the persons that know how to set up an accel pot with the laptop in this version [s15-g] truck.
you might first make sure nothing has gotten tied into any of the wires that feed into the circuits monitored by the ECU. Usually this truck will only low idle [650rpm, normal idle is about 725/760] if their is an abnormality.
after you are sure the wires are 'clean' you might try a 'known good' ecu.
on this truck, there is a 'fuel trim' [vacuum control solenoid valve] with a red and white wires. DO NOT TEST these wires WITH A METER with the ECU connected.
serial #AF63D00267. WE put a new pot on and still does the same thing. Should I check the wiring from the pot. if so can you give me some suggestion.
what is the serial number of your truck? (my guess is it is an af8xdxxxxx [x = number]
this is a 2003 truck with an s15-g emissions system.
4 flashes on this truck indicates a 'pedal sensor open error'.
check the accel pot.
So now I have code on dash light that flashes 4 times. Is that E04 of F04.
G s e ground support. Have you plugged in and seen the inputs outputs in uptlme.you can check throttel and acc to see whats going on
What is gse. this is a fly by wire. Maybe I'm not pulling the codes right. Can you tell me how?
