I have a Toyota that when the steering or hydraulics are dead headed the truck immediatly shuts of and dies, we have replaced the intake gasket the regulator tuned it up, checked for vacuum leaks we can not find why it is doing this, anyone have any ideas?

Ed is right, the releif valve for the steering is in the orbital valve, you have to drop it down to make any adjustments.
and if the "dash pot thingy mounted on the carb" adjustment does or does not fix it, then the next step is to -properly- adjust the hydraulic relief valve settings, and check engine compression and tune up too.
Does this happen only while idling? If so, does that have an adjustable vacuum operated dash pot thingy mounted on the carb that pushes the throttle linkage arm open a bit when the motor is lugged down while idling?
