Yale ERP040TF:
Drive motor relay

Greetings,
My new to me lift recently starting acting up, with the drive motors not engaging in forward or reverse. I was able to verify the switch on the column is switching correctly. But I'm not hearing any relays activating in the rear of the lift. Are relays a known issue? are there another connections that could be inspected?

Thanks

I got it working!
Thanks so much for the reply. The problem was intermittent, as I was actually able to get it working a couple times yesterday, randomly. I pulled all the wire harness connectors apart and cleaned them with compressed air. Along with blowing as much dust as I could get out of the rear compartment. I still have no idea which connector it was, but that did the trick. I see now that I have two forward contactors and two reverse, interesting.

Now that it's working properly, I can get a helper in the driver's seat and poke around a bit in the back compartment to see which/how circuits are used.

Thanks for the heads up on the switch at the pedal.

Todd,

Check all fuses first. The accelerator switch under the pedal needs inspection. Just because you do not hear relays clicking does not mean they are bad. Safety switches can also be a problem. Brake and seat switch are common problems. The control cards will need to be inspected and checked for clean tight connections. Make sure the contactors are not stuck open or closed. Good Luck.

The hard to do we do right away. The impossible just takes a little longer.
