We were a dealer back in the late 80's and I never cared for the product, but I never heard of this truck.
I understood the truck did not have the best reputation - the Mitsubishi drive line was fine. But it was introduced at a time when Allis Chalmers was dying the death of a ragged doll. In the early 1980s, then later brought back to life by ACMH out of Columbus, Ohio whose claim to fame was in the hamburger business (Wendy's or Burger King). ACMH bought our the real A-C in 1986
Thank you John,
do appreciate the help it is a **** machine, I'll call Kevin and see what he says.
1. The 4G54 engine is a Mitsubishi
2. That model number looks screwed up for an Allis-Chalmers model number. The C meant cuhion tire & P neumatic tire the next two digit would be a capacity reference e.g. 40 = 4000 lb basic lift capacity, PS torque converter trans. Have no clue what the 41X might mean - it might have happened after Dec. 16..
3. I will stand to be corrected but I was the Product Sales Manager of the ICE line at A-C up thru the Dec. 16 1981 9got trashed after 14 years there). We were working on a product line called the "World Truck" that was to use the Mitsubishi engine, Mitusbishi transmission & transaxle. It was launched after my departure in 1981. Then it was resurrected after a company called ACMH bought out the AC lift truck division. Think they called it the Phoenix - rose out of the dust.
4. Call Langer Material Handling out of PA - they go back to the A-C days and the Kalmar AC/Komatsu days. Ask for Kevin Langer use my name John Johnson (aka Kunta Kinte) he'll know you are real & laugh.
5. Yes I can be classified as an old time - get to turn 75 in December. Spent 41 years in the lift truck business. I loved it got to know a lot of fine people and a few not so fine but I was glad I hung up my spurs in 2007 - the fun was going fast & numbers were everything.
