They have been opening up auto batts for years.Flush them out change shorted cells new acid then return to service.The major fail of batterys is junk in the lower case shorting cells out.But htat junk is cell right?So how good is a recon battery?That black painted battery at the carlot just dont seem to last long.But they only need them to last long enough for you to buy it.Some customers out there might be ok with a rebuilt batt.IE 2 to 3 hrs a day run.But the 6 to 20 hr a day customers would best buy a new one.

I was sent some of that magic elixir once from a vendor and it was useless. As far as cutting open cells that is a new one on me

I agree that a battery can be somewhat reconditioned by replacing bad cells and equalizing the acid. But they say that they cut each cell open, clean the plates and put some magical elixir in and whamo the battery is renewed and carries a 4 year warranty. Unfortunately, when times get tough people flock to those that tell them what they want to hear....and most of the time they don't come back because they don't want to lose face.

Deka reconditions batteries for us by load testing, replacing bad cells, resealing and adjusting the acid. Never seen a 4 year warranty on one though.

Iv seen the rebuilt batteries.It a crap shoot sometimes you get a winner and sometimes you get the ****.They replace dead cells with used cells or new if used cant be found.Then you might have a fair battery or still the ****.

I have seen "Refurbished" batteries before, but they are kind of like a "Refurbished" forklift, Washed off and a "paint job"
You can't polish a ****. Many a person has been down that road with those batteries, it's a hassle.
After going through all the switched out batteries under "warranty", most just bite the bullet and get a new one.
