That's what I'm thinking, will give it a try.
I'd be tempted to let a local electronic repair place replace the pot on the A5 card.
As long as the printed circuit board isn't damaged, it should be fairly simple to replace the pot for someone who is good with a soldering iron.
You wont be able to see the rear of the circuit board unless you dismantle the card BUT that would break the anti tamper warranty stickers!
As for a new board, there still available new from BT Toyota.
Looks like whoever replaced the card last time was a little heavy handed adjusting the pot!
Its been at least 4 years since I last replaced one of these cards, very rarely they go wrong.
Hey Forkingabout,
Haha, I haven't touched it, that TLC/c013 issue with the two RRE160Ms resolved, thanks some to your help of course. Your a gem!
This however is a different machine, purchased secondhand recently, It's always had quite slow lowering since we got it, but just last week it got really bad. So I looked at some forums and someone had had a similar issue in that the pot had 'loosened off', I guess you would say.
This information spurred me to get the guys in to investigate this issue as a possible cause, and as it turns out (I love the helpful people on here) the lowering trim-pot was missing (found rolling around on the circuit board); they recommended a new board, if they can source one.
I would rather not bare this expense if I can first get someone to have a crack at replacing the trim-pot.
Apparently the logic card was replaced not so long before purchase, I'm thinking the trim-pot may have been knocked or something at that point.
It seems the top part has come off leaving the pins and solder in place (from what I can tell but I cant be sure as its freaking tiny, like 5-7mm, and the board is still in place so I cant see the backside of it.
No codes appear, just very slow lowering like less than 2 feet per minute.
How have you managed to dislodge it?
Has it pulled the pads of the printed circuit board where the pot is soldered on?
If the truck is working ok & not throwing C013 while lowering I'd be tempted to leave it.
