Clark C500 SERIES:
C500 Y50 Manual and Help

Hello,
I have an old beast of C500 Y50 down here in Australia.
Does anyone have a copy of a manual for this machine they would be willing to share with me.
Iam currently having issues with air being pumped in to the hydraulic system. very sponge lifting and aerated foamy oil returning and over flowing the tank.
Is the hyd pump on the left or the right side of the motor and is it chain driven inside the cover?
Very dirty and loads of hoses crammed in there so I would like to get an idea of whats going on before i commence any work, any help would be greatly appreciated..
Cheers
Marcel.

There is a filter inside the tank under the cover. If the filter mount cracks or the filter is loose you will *** air.

bbforks Thanks for your help, the leak seems to be in the joint in the pipe inside the tank. Pump looks to be working good enough to do the job this fork needs to do.
cheers
Marcel.

When I replace hyd pumps on these trucks I fill the sump hose (hose from pump to hyd tank) with oil so help prime the pump. Other than that there's no bleeding procedure. The gulp of air the hyd system gets from changing the pump will dissipate once the engine is run. I would let the engine idle for maybe 5-10 min. when done the replacement to purge any air in the system

Trans oil has nothing to do with issue just establishing what and where everything is.
Hydraulic pump is on the carb side as you mention, just testing for leaks before the pump before i pull the pump off.
Will the air sucked through from fresh hoses need to be bled, will this initial air bubble cause the oil to be foamy ?
Thanks for you help

Here in the states the engine in that model was the Waukashaw 155 & the hyd pump is on the intake/exhaust side of the engine(right side as seated on the machine).

There are no timing marks to worry about nor do the gears fall away once the pump is removed (again- as it's set up here in the states).

Send a picture to my email of that portion of the engine to make sure it's what I'm familiar with.

You mention trans oil- what does that have to do with this issue?

Thanks, Is the pump on the exhaust side trans oil or something ?.
I have been hoping that it's just air being sucked from a corrupted hose.
When removing the pump do you have watch for timing or can gears fall into the cover ?.

Sorry- don't have a manual but I've worked on several of these- there are gears inside the timing case cover driving the hyd & P/S pumps, etc. Your symptoms indicate a suction of air into the intake side of the hyd pump- usually caused by either a leak in the hose which feeds the pump or the pump itself.

Make sure all the fittings are tight (& hose clamps) on the suction side- don't make the mistake of thinking that all's good on the suction side because it's not leaking hyd fluid- air will leak in where oil can't leak out. This will be the hyd pump on the carb side of the engine.

If all's tight & you're still pulling in air- then the hyd pump is faulty.
