Good afternoon. I have a Crown RC 25RCTT stand up lift with intermittent forward/reverse failure. The lift always fails just after charging the battery and plugging the battery to the lift. Lift will turn on, mast will lift and lower and tilt, and I hear contacts closing when attempting to go forward/reverse but no movement. When the lift is turned off for approximately 5-10 minutes, forward/reverse will activate and lift will operate normally.
Also, the lift will fail forward/reverse travel intermittently, leaving the lift stuck with a load in the racks or in the middle of the aisle. This happens randomly and can be remedied by powering down for 5-10 minutes. After this downtime, lift will operate normally until the next episode.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I have an update on our lift. After further evaluation, the battery is causing the problem. When under load, the battery was dropping an amazing 15 volts. We are working with a local supplier to replace either the battery or the entire lift.
Thank you both for the quick responses. It seems our problem has been solved.
i would be testing/replacing the brake and steering switches
Thank you for the quick response. I will begin checking these tomorrow and will reply back with my findings.
Additional information- The lift is not used daily...we are a R&D facility and need the lift to randomly move boxes and pallets. No heavy use here.
The controller is an EV-1 unit.
The battery was pulled out last year and refurbished, given a clean bill of health, and placed back in the unit. Water is checked weekly and topped off when necessary.
Did you take a look at the forward and reverse contactors to see if they aren't burnt and are operating properly? Check the drive motor brushes and commutator. If all looks good there then the speed control potentiometer or wiring to it may have a problem.
