Discussion:
Battery querie

I would be very grateful if someone here could help me with a few formulas for a college project. I've tried googling various terms but have being going in circles with many conflicting results.
I need to calculate how much it costs to charge a battery, how much hydrogen is dissipated from it and how much ventilation is required to make is safe? And I have to show how these figures are derived.

Secondly. Is there any way of comparing the pros and cons of using elec over IC powered forklifts with figures?

I appreciate any help on this at all.

The volume of hydrogen produced by a lead acid battery =

No of cells x rated ampere hour capacity x 35
Divided by 1000000

The safe limit for hydrogen is below 1%. so the volume of the room containing the battery and charger is required to work out the safe number of batteries per room.

As for the cost, this will vary as to how dischagred the battery is but as a guide the current draw will be on the side of a particular unit x length of charge, 8 or 12 hours.
