Crown WAV50-118:
Controller

Hi all, Anybody know what type of curtis controller is fitted in these machines so I can download the manual?. I got a few of these machines that won't reset the BDI after charging.

sorry manuals are copyright.
your local crown branch should be able to supply a manual for a reasonable cost
common codes are
fault 3 drive motor cover switches (usually a box or rubbish )fault 5 tilt sensor
fault 7 pots moved or not centred without led sensors covered
fault 18 inhibit- charger lead still plugged in
fault 19 similar to fault 7
fault 24 left drive motor open circuit
fault 25 right drive motor open circuit
fault 37 drive pot outside limits
fault 38 steer pot outside limits

Hi Crownie, Have you a workshop manual in PDF you could send me. I have a few of these to look after now and a list of the fault codes would be of great help. Many thanks,
Simon

what we are doing is disconnecting the white wire and using the white wire to drive the coil of a 24v relay and taking a wire from the ED contactor through an inline fuse through normally open relay tips back to terminal 2 giving full battery voltage to the controller

Many thanks again Crownie. Traced the voltage drop to connections at the control fuse on the front panel. That is too long a run of wire for such a sensitive BDI. A crown engineer had been in and told them new mast looms for all at £400 each (3 machines). Needless to say I am of golden testicles right now! :-)

BDI not resetting is a very common fault
assuming your batteries are good
measure the voltage at the left front terminal board
terminal 2 white wire
must be within 0.5 volts of battery voltage
requires 25.6v to reset BDI (from memory)
most common cause of voltage drop here are plug connectors to service panel, keyswitch and mast cables
