Discussion:
Recommended transmission fluid

I would like to know what is the recommended transmission fluid for this forklift. It carries the 2.2L engine. The technicians said the fluid came out a clear/brown color. Our local parts supplier is unsure of the fluid. Thank you in advance.

JD40 spec oil Hyster recomend tractran 9 do not use standard atf or engine oil in the transmission because it will destroy the clutch plates and I've repaired lots that have had the wrong oil in them

Thank you. It is the single speed power shift. We have ATF GL-4 on site, could that be used as well?

Is this a single speed power shift or a hydrostatic truck? If it is a power shift the fluid would be universal trans/hydraulic fluid ( JD20).
