Discussion:
No spark

Help please! Shop has a 1985 C-500-100 propane lift. Changed out the battery and replaced coil. Started right up for a couple minutes then died. Since then no spark coming out of the coil. Ordered a new ballast resistor will replace shortly. Anyone experienced this? Or can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks.

Does the rotor turn when you crank it over? If not could be a sheared dist. gear pin. Probably not, but easy to eliminate from the equation. to test the ballast resistor just jump it and it should start. Mike

No matter where you go, there you are.
I've seen the ballast resistor do crazy things on the older C500 Clark forklifts. I think that is probably a good next step.

If the resistor doesn't fix the problem check your grounds, I've seen bad grounds on the old Clarks mess with you too.

Easy way to check your ground is to just put a jumper cable (black end) from negative battery post to your engine. If your problem goes away then you have a bad ground.
