Discussion:
leaking head plate with fittings

Hi everyone,
I have a Hyster H50 XM s/nD177B05748P
with a leaking plate on the back of the head that has
two fittings connected to it. Does anyone know what this
is for, and what is behind the plate that is leaking?

The engine is a GM 2.2L and on the rear (trans.) side of the head is a plate with two elbow fittings and a cross flow hose connecting the two fittings together. It's either a heat exchanger or dual output cooling or heating lines for something. Mechanic is afraid to remove the plate without knowing whats inside as the truck is needed in service at all times, and yes the plate is leaking coolant.
