Discussion:
Boot Error Shut Down

I have a Crown stock picker (SP3450H-30 2007 model) that I have been chasing a boot error shut down on for months now. The truck always recovers when re-keyed and runs for up to 150 hrs (run time) between fails. When it shuts down the only thing showing is 282 flash code on dispay and 258 flash code on SCM. Since the 2 codes are basically the modules saying they cant see/talk to each other that is the direction I have gone. Here is what has been done...
1) Dist board swapped with another truck
2) SCM swapped with another truck
3) DCM swapped with another truck
3) Main harness (dist. board to SCM) repalced new
4) All 4 mast cables replaced new

ALL connectors, plugs etc have been cleaned and proper termination checked multi times...

No fault codes logged in the fault code history.

The static/ground drag strap has been replaced also & paint removed at mounting point to be sure of good contact.

This has all been over 8 months or so. Like I said it will recover and run for 100 to 150+ run hrs between fails.

This machine is driving me to drink! Any help/ideas would be really cool.
Thanks!

It's all just nuts n' bolts.
Showing items 1 - 4 of 4 results.
We change out our batteries 1 to 2 times per shift here depending on time of year/useage. I have my battery tech keep our batts in top shape. No corrosion, electrolyte level checked every change, washed and equalized every 5th charge. Spec grav readings checked monthly. Plus all our stockpicker (24V / 875 AH) batts wre just replaced this last spring.

This fail has comes up at just about all states of charge. Most of the time it has been over 50% charge, as this is the 1st thing I normally look at when responding to a "dead truck" on the floor.

~Thanks

have the battery checked, and ask what the state of the battery was when it set the codes. (my bet, if battery was less than 1/3 remaining useful charge every time, your problem may be the battery, and corrosion)

"it's not rocket surgery"
No on the rail & wire guide. As far as when it happens... From what the operators tell me they are normally traveling when it shuts down.

I did read on an old thread on here about an issue smilar to this being a work/dome light issue. I then checked all the wiring to lights and replaced all bulbs. I even went as far as replacing the flash tube in the strobe unit as well.

Thanks for the reply!

Some questions i have is if this truck is a wire guide or rail guide and if you can narrow problem down to when it happens. like when raising or when turning wire guide on or off. Access 6 wire guide control is tied in with the CAN lines as is the TCM so if we can narrow a little it might help. if not you might want to try looking at the light circuit. it has given lots of problems in its time
