Discussion:
upgrade propane system

Hello guys. I just bought a clark with a d155g motor. Unit only runs with choke partially out and when if runs, it revs pretty high, and when you put it in forward or reverse, it almost dies. I put new plugs in it, and it is getting nice blue spark. I am pretty sure it is in fuel system, but am pretty sure parts are obsolete or close to it. Has anyone upgraded the propane system to a impco regulator and carburetor system? Is this the way to go or is it better to just work with what you have. Any advise would be helpful. Thanks

Matt Nolff at PNG Technologies is where we usually purchase LP upgrade kits from- unless it's a Toyota 4Y engine which we source from TVH.

Thanks for the reply. I have found a kit at Century Fuel products that will upgrade the propane systems to a newer system. Does any one have any experience with this company? Does anyone know a place in Ontario that will sell a kit like this. Thanks again for all your helpfulness.

If the engine only runs with the choke partially pulled then the LP system needs service. You are correct that the parts for your system are getting harder & harder to get- upgrading to an Impco system really is your best bet. Newer versions of the C500 series came stock with the Impco system so converting it to that system is fairly easy.

Customers love technology- until they have to pay to fix it!
have you done a valve job, or at least adjusted the valves?
what you describe seems like low vac.

In 1898, author Morgan Robertson wrote a novel called 'Futility', which described an "unsinkable" ship named the Titan that sank after hitting an iceberg. Fourteen years later, the Titanic sank in a strikingly similar fashion.
