Anyone know what the ngk # is for these? I have a cat 2c4000 the original plugs have threads removed from the portion in the cylinder and the aftermarket replacements are threaded all the way down. Any info would be appreciated.

As a side note to this, there is no need to use anti seize on the threads as they are nickle plated....and NGK has a bulletin out on this, can cause you to over torque the plug and break it at the threads/base.....

Absolutely use the new style plugs, or you may find yourself doing a thread repair to the head at a future date.

The newest NGK# is FR2B-D. mrfixit that is the old number and the last couple of threads are removed on that one as well. As other people have stated make sure you use this plug. Using other plugs with threads all the way to the end will build up carbon and pull the threads out of the head when removing.

The NGK plugs that I use are FR2A-D but I think the threads are not modified.

We stock a set of these on our service vans and I think they came from TVH as NGK. The NI number I listed shows a picture that has the bottom couple of threads removed.

I highly recommend using original plugs in these engines as a modification has been made on these so as to help with future removal.
