Discussion:
Mits. FB16KT code 35

I have a problem with a Mitsubishi FB16KT S/N EFB4B00034. The truck came in on the back of a rollback uncovered on a very rainy day and the new shop porter plugged in the battery and drove it into the shop ( He knows better now). Water had gotten into the control compartment and all three boards were wrecked. We sent them to Flight Systems to be repaired. The H board and the Drive board were repaired but the Logic board had a bad CPU and could not be repaired so we had to purchase a new one. The repaired boards and the new logic board were installed and now I am getting an error code 35. The manual indicates that there is a problem with the current sensor 3 wiring and or the sensor its self or the logic card. This is a contactor truck and not a chopper so there is not a current sensor 3. I am thinking that there is a programming parameter that needs to be changed or the logic card is not correct for the contactor configuration. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

As you said the Drive board had to be repaired are you sure that the TIP IGBT (Hyd IGBT) is OK.

Thanks Swoop,

I do have the manual for this truck and SW1 was setup the same as the original card before it was installed ( only dip sw 2 on all others off ). I also went through the setup options and they are all set to default settings, I did not find any setup options to change from contactor to chopper or vise versa. The manual refers to the SW1 dip switch but tells you to see table 3-35 for settings, that page is the setup options table with no mention of the dip switch SW1. The manual also states that there are 5 different logic card models:
1= 36V - Contactor
2= 36V - Chopper
3= 36V - Chopper EE
4= 48V - Contactor
5= 48V - Chopper

The only difference I could find between the original card and the one TVH sent us was the part number printed on the edge of the circuit board.
#16A50-04401 = Original board
#16A50-04402 = New board from TVH

You can see from the info above why I am thinking they sent the wrong card but it also makes since that the configuration could be changed in the setup options or with dip switches. Some times what made since to the design engineer leaves us service techs scratching our heads.

more than likely 2 possibilities
either an incorrect setting in parameters
or an incorrect control logic card

i'm banking on improper settings, not totally ruling out an incorrect card type because it is always possible but if you ordered the part using serial number of the truck you should have gotten the correct card.

these cards are not setup totally when new, most of the settings will work when plugged in from the factory but you still need to go into the programming and insure all settings are correct for the truck model and system that is on the truck.

There should be a dip switch(sw1) on the logic that has to be set correctly for either chopper control or contactor control hydraulics. This should have been your first thing to set before installing the new card.

you WILL need a service manual to go through this ;o)
