raymond 740dr-32tt free lift cylinder

s/n : 740-06-FA06010 I m working on a freelift cylider that got damaged of its cushion mechanism(broken spring ,piston etc.)how can I remove the cushion housing from the rod of a free lift cilinder.?
It seems to be too squeezed in its place. Applied heat and hit with a bushing trying not to deform it.
thanks in advance¡

Now i have the cushion Uninstalled.
Does it any difference having having one new style cushion in one cylinder and an old style in the other one?

If the old cushion broke, its the original small one. You need to install the new design as its much stronger. You must put the shaft in a vice. Use old steel collars ti help hold the cyl. Heat the tube with torches and put a large pipe wrench on the old cushion (shock) Use a large hammer to strike the wrench and break the cushion free. It will unscrew off the chrome cyl. Install the new design cushion # 1087284. Use lock tite to install it!
You need a new seal kit for the gland. Before putting back together, make sure to put a magnet down the cyl (if you didnt take the cyl out) to get those pieces. They will come back to haunt you!
And most important!!!>>>those 3 screws at the top of the cyl must be installed after the cyl is put in the tube and tightened. Then install the collar with the ring upward, then the spring and finally the gland and snap ring. If you install the 3 srcews last, you will ruin the whole cyl! The parts all sit on top of those screws.

Its been a while since i have done one, but it should be threaded on, but retained with lock-tight, will have to heat to free the lock-tight, unthread, clean up, and lock-tight new one.

Fact of the week
The origin of "love" as the score zero in tennis is debated, but two main theories prevail. One suggests it's derived from the French word "l'oeuf" (egg) which resembles the shape of the number zero. The other proposes it's related to the Dutch word "lof" meaning "honour" as players might be playing for honour when scoreless.
