Toyota alternator

Does anyone know why Toyota uses a three wire plug on there alternators Model42-6fgu25 instead of the two wire.

B line coming from altenator to load battery
Altenator have ic regulateur

The three lines (connector)
S going to batterij line Color white
L going to dashbord light (and preheating timer) Color Y-L
IG coming from fuse 15 Amp (Color y)
