Discussion:
Mitsubishi FGC25N AF82F013??

This truck has a K21 engine, I got a E27 code refering to a faulty crank sensor. We tuned the machine, erased the code and the code came back. The forklift started, idled ok, but coughed when the accelerator was punched 25% of the time.

The customer ran the truck for 1 hour, shut the machine down and it wouldn't restart. Returned and checked the codes, F04, and P04, ECM communication error, now showed.

Any ideas? Could the faulty cranksensor have completely broke causing this issue? Will sensor replacement correct the issue? These 2 codes were the only 2 codes displayed, E27 didnot show when the truck would not restart?

Thank you,

JOHN

hi 7777
why would it matter? well for starters they suggest using only NGK in their service bulletin on this problem
its kind of like using 3rd party plugs in any engine
in ford you should use motorcraft
GM uses AC brand

all OEM mfg's have certain brand plugs designed for thier spec's and the engine is setup to use those type plugs. Not all plugs are created equal even though they may work, some will not work as well.
Not to mention as sensitive as these computer systems are on these trucks it is advisable to use OEM parts unless you have no other choice.
Their plugs have a specific resistance they use i am guessing, so... if you use any other brand, they may work but you may still have issues.

On the early european trucks, F/P 04 referred to the bonnet switch. If the bonnet was lifted, engine cut out, fault codes displayed. The switch is by the bonnet gas strut. Hope this is usefull.

Hi John,
when you changed spark plugs you did go back with NGK plugs the same as what was in there i hope.
the plug gap is also supposed to be.035 (.09mm)

You may also want to swap out the ECM relays in the relay box, they have been known to cause issues and make the truck throw codes.

I did find the F04 is an ECM communication error code (most of the time related to the relays)
The P04 is the same as the F04

I did have some information on what the prefix code means in relation to the truck and what system it was associated with. If i can find it i will return and post that here, it is very helpful in giving an understanding on where to look when you see the P or E or F or L or even D prefix. That has always been a headache with mfca when it comes to relaying information, you never know exactly where to find it and spend loads of time looking... its terribly inefficient imo.
