Toyota 6BPU15 Order Picker Code 51

Hey guys,

Please help. I just inherited a Toyota 6BPU15 with a code 51. It takes the truck 20 +/- seconds during travel to throw code and then goes into 1/4 mph limp mode. It runs great and lift with no problem before the 20-second counter shuts it down. Any help would be appreciated.

Hey,

I appreciate the help, guys. What I meant before was I replaced the speed sensors on top of the drive motor. They both light when hovering over the metal portion of brake drum. I guessed at.10, but truck still codes out after 20 seconds when going slow to medium speed, and much shorter time (~5-8 seconds) when running fast. I got a code CL and CP when sensors were disconnected or removed but still plugged in. I'll check the connections tomorrow; hate buying a tractor manager.

did you replace steer sensor or drive motor traction (speed) sensors on top of drive motor? Toyzilla is right you need to check your connections from sensors to steer controller and also (if possible) have someone operate travel circuit while watching led on sensors when motor is turning. MAKE SURE UNIT IS OFF OF FLOOR AND BLOCKED PROPERLY BEFORE TRYING TO WATCH LED'S FOR EVALUATION. Adjust air gap between sensors & brake drum should be.12-.16 if problem continues replace steer controller, yes it's pricey. one more thing check to make sure all componente are tight and secure.Traction sensors diconnected is code description.

Replaced drive motor prox zensors. Are tou saying that there could be carbon tracking on the comnections on the tractor manager? Looks like I'm in the right area. What is code 51 and are there any anolog tests that could narrow problem down?

look closely at the connections on the tractor interface board. pay special attention to the wiring for the little sensors on the drive unit.
