Question on EV100 handset

Does anyone know if an EV100 machine that does have a read out code in the dash, is able to read codes of an identical truck that goes down? If a cable is made from the card of the broken truck (w/out read out), to the connector of the operating machine (w/ read out), can the codes be read?

Would only be able to read the current code if this set up would work, with a handset can read the fault history for the ZX and SX cards(last 16 fault codes, with battery state of charge and hr meter @ time of fault. Plus as ED T has stated you can set up and adjust with the handset.

I really should have been a bit more accurate, and said that as long as it is an ev100 LX controller or newer it will work, one from a zx truck works fine on an lx truck.
The cable that plugs into the ev100 "y" plug is the same.
and
Note that Mack's information is good as far as ev100 traction controllers, but some other GE controllers may have the stored fault codes in a different setting.

Off the top of my head, I seem to remember that the cost of one of those ev100 dash gages is almost as high as the handset itself, and you will still need a handset to be able to setup a new or recon card to match the truck.
