Discussion:
Caterpillar EP20K fault codes

I have a Caterpillar EP20K which is coming up with two fault codes, 13 & 18 - anyone any idea what these relate to/possible cause?

for this model 13 is related to the Drive IGBT and 18 is pointing a drive motor field fault. There is a lot to check to isolate the fault. If you post an email address i will send you some info.

Hi mate

the closest info i have is for a cat ep18k, info i have related to this states
13 - right drive motor faulty transistor drive
18 - right drive motor faulty field drive.

If this is the dc twin drive seperately excited motor controller truck and your transistors and motors read ok, it will most likely be a problem in the H bridge card(driver board for the traction field circuit).
