Diesel work fine if you have an active duty cycle application where the engine speed is runs at a high level (1600 rpm or greater) a majority of time. If it is a stop and go application I would not recommend a diesel.
What every you decide make certain you have a good air cleaner system w/ high air intake & pre cleaner - it only takes one tablespoon of dirt in the air intake to wipe out and engine.

andrew;
The combustion ignited engine does have a somewhat longer life expectancy then the spark ignited engine. The enviorment you are working in isn't what would be classified as normal but severe. Fuel distribution would be one factor along with any cost variables to consider.

Fact of the week
The word "robotics" was coined by Russian-born American science-fiction writer Isaac Asimov who first used the word in 1942 in his short story 'Runabout'. He characterised robots as helpful servants and as "a better, cleaner race."
