Discussion:
power assisted steering fault

No response from power assisted steering, when truck is switched on error message ps trouble 514 530 displayed, when performing self check function message reads problem in PS TR *514. truck drives ok and all hydraulics work, Truck was left outside in damp conditions for about a week and although it was covered in plastic and shrink wrap I suspect wet has a lot to do with it but it's all dryed out now and problem persists.

UPDATE!!! 4 days later and the fault although still lurking in the background, is beginning to clear, now when I switch on instead of going to fault every time it sometimes starts correctly. whipped the board out and gave it another drying out and problem solved, so even when you cant see any moisture on the main print board it only takes the minutest amount of dampness to knock out a function. well worth remembering before resorting to ordering expensive replacement parts. PROPER JOB!! as we say in this part of the world.

That fault code usually means one of the igbt's is faulty. There are 2 behind the steer controller. Sometimes it also blows a diode on the steering controller card. With a mutimeter in diode test check between common terminal an one of other terminals. U should get a reading in one direction but not other.

Fact of the week
Foundling hatches are safe, anonymous drop-off points for unwanted infants, allowing parents in crisis a way to surrender a baby safely without fear of punishment, ensuring the child is rescued and cared for. The concept started in the 12th century, was abandoned in the late 19th century, then reintroduced in 1952. It has since been adopted in many countries.
