Discussion:
Toyota flux battery disconnect failed, will there be internal battery damage?

Model: 8hbw23 (pallet jack)
Serial: 43073

Obviously i know the "right" answer is to just call Toyota and make it their problem but I would like to see if a new breaker/disconnect fixes the issue. Im talking about the red button inside of the cable storage cubby that cuts battery power. I removed the switch, tested, and got spotty continuity while it was open. Tested a good unit to double check and got no continuity while it was open.

The battery has no lights, doesnt charge, and doesnt turn on. I assume the breaker failed, but would that damage anything else? Normally breakers are meant to break the flow even if they fail, but the spotty continuity while open is the main reason im asking for help/info here. I assume theres other safety features inside the battery so it wont explode or anything if i put a new breaker in and it also fails partially closed?

Was there a specific event that caused the circuit breaker to open? Is the lithium state of charge at 0% ?? When this happened? Or unknown. Lithiums do not like to be run down to 0% you get lucky and maybe get to take a charge a few times , but the ECM and or internal components will fail in doing this. Is there a possible short to frame or cause on the jack side? Circuit breakers open from a short. Not half way or otherwise. I'll check their website further on troubleshooting.

Fact of the week
The black box flight recorder was invented by Australian scientist David Warren in the mid-1950s. While initially met with indifference in Australia, his invention gained international recognition, particularly in the UK, and is now a mandatory piece of safety equipment on all commercial aircraft.
