Discussion:
No Drive issue

This is probably a basic question but I am going to ask it. Contactor 1A has 27 volts on both legs of the contactor but is not pulling the 24v coil shut to allow power to the right drive motor? What am I missing? if it has voltage on both sided of the coil for the contactor shouldn't it be closing? is it a bad coil or is it looking for a signal to close from else were? In my head if the coil is energized on both sides it should close unless it has failed?

I pulled the contactor out and the rear set of contacts were bad almost like they melted there was a big ridge on it keeping the coil from being able to make the contacts make full connection. I bet this caused the coil to burn up as well. ill order a new contactor thanks.

Yeah it is possible that the tips are stuck. If you unplug the battery see if you can get them to move semi easily. If they are somewhat easy to move the coil is definitely bad.
It has low resistance but I don't remember what exactly it's supposed to be at so I can't say for sure if that is right or not.

ok yes I understand that the coil will still get voltage. I just wanted to make sure that there was not another factor in it not closing other then just a bad coil. Thanks I will order another coil today. It is at 15 ohms when tested.

You will see voltage on both sides even if the coil goes bad. I don't remember 100% but typically there is a diode with that circuit that can go bad. Most likely it is a bad contactor coil if you have battery voltage on both sides and the contactor does not close. I may be remembering wrong but if the contactor is trying to open, the resistance of the coil should be around 28.8 ohms. I'd recommend replacing the whole contactor assembly.
