Discussion:
DAULAC access 3 programmer controller

I have been acquiring 2-4 crown RC5530 s per year. we end up junking most because we cant get into the service section to calibrate items such as new brake switch etc. these machines occasionally ill get in with passcode 2311 but very seldom. Can you recommend a "controller" or programmer that would allow us to go into service etc, without the passcode. Ive seen a few diff models around 1400.00 but they arent real specific whether would work or not without passcode. I beleive these access 3 units are DUALAC jst seems a waiste to keep junking these! thank you in advance!

Ah I forgot the RC model has an access 7. Typically it is stored in the access 1 where no access 7 is present with calibrations being stored in the access 3 eprom. When the access 7 is installed the password is stored in the access 7 with the access 1 verifying the correct code is stored. Sorry totally forgot about the access 7. All the models of lifts have such weird programing.

welp, changing out access 1 did absolutely nothing. I was thinking access 1 contained the passcode, but it must be stored in one of the other access modules.

That really depends. If it is coming from the same truck with a close serial number it may work. The issue mostly comes in with what software is loaded onto your other access1 and what is loaded onto the rest of the truck modules.
If it does have the wrong software it won't so any harm but the lift won't turn on until software gets uploaded to have all the modules on the same version of software.
You can see what software version is on the modules, but unfortunately you have to use the service menu to see them.
I'm honestly surprised Crown hasn't shown up yet, it's a super easy job for them and honestly I'd rather change passwords than do anything else.

Once the pass code is changed you will have full access to the service menu for diagnostics, etc. The service laptop costs around $1,000 with the cables included. You also will have to buy a perpetual license for the software. All the laptop allows you to do is update software when installing a new model or change the password, both of which is a separate license.
The laptop does not have any additional tools for diagnostics, that is fully included in the access 1 software already installed to the truck.
The access 1 is basically the diagnostic tool unlike a car or other brands where you so need a separate controller.

thank you so much!! i have crown in route.....dealing with as many as i do, would it be advisable to purchase one anyways for diagnosis etc. for after crown changes my passcodes? they quoted me 186.00 including drive time to change passcode...i did not think that was terrible.

Correct. Those programmers only work on old crowns that don't use the full crown access eco system / Can. The RC5500 needs the laptop with the CAN adapter as the password is stored on the access 1. Without the password you are not able to get into the service menu

The only way to reset a pass code on a crown access module system is to use the crown password tool on a laptop and use the correct can connector. You can contact crown technical support for more help or you local branch to have a tech come out and reset the password for you.
